Hillcrest Golf Club
Hoping to sneak in a few rounds of golf while you are on vacation? The Hillcrest Golf Club in Alvin is the perfect place for that. It’s a small 9-hole public golf course where you can relax and get in a quick round. This is a great course for people who are just beginning to learn golf. It features an all-grass practice range and a pro shop and the course is open 7 days a week. In 1969, the course was built by a man named Shorty Plaster. With the mild weather in Alvin, Hillcrest is open year-round. If you’ve had a long day of sightseeing and just want to get in some exercise, the course is lit so you can start 18 holes as late as 7 pm, and 9 holes as late as 8:30 pm. Chaparral Golf Club
Located just to the east of Alvin in Dickenson, this also is a basic 9-hole course. There are water hazards on five of the holes, and golfers there report extremely narrow fairways.
The course was opened in 1970 and was designed by Leon Howard. Fairways and greens both feature Bermuda Grass.
