Beaches near Alvin, TX

Galveston

Galveston itself used to be the wealthiest and largest town in the state of Texas.  For a little while, it was even the capital of the Republic of Texas. The Seawall

This area of beaches runs for more than 10 miles along the ocean. The ocean is shallow at this point, and visitors report the water is often calm.  It’s a great place to let the kids play and not be afraid of huge waves coming in. Many people comment on how soft the sand is.  Behind the beaches are the usual restaurants, hotels, and shops. 

Stewart Beach

Near the east end of Galveston Island, you will find Stewart Beach.  It’s popular as a family-friendly beach with a playground and rentals for chairs and umbrellas. 

Galveston Island State Park

At Galveston Island State Park you can find boardwalks for a leisurely stroll, or you can go kayaking through the bayou.  Bird-watching is great on both the bayside and the ocean side.
